Hilary currently works part time for the NHS as a highly specialist speech and language therapist in West Sussex. The majority of her present NHS work is with children with learning difficulties or stutters/stammers. Since qualifying, Hilary has worked with pre-school and school-aged children with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties including: speech and language delay and disorder, stammering, selective mutism, and communication difficulties associated with learning difficulties. She has worked in a variety of settings including homes, clinics, nurseries, mainstream and special schools.
Hilary is trained and experienced in a range of interventions including the Lidcombe Programme for children who stammer, the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), the Derbyshire Language Scheme and Parent-Child Interaction. She is experienced in providing training and workshops for parents/carers, teaching staff and nursery staff on a variety of topics related to communication.
Chris currently works part time for the NHS in West Sussex as a highly specialist speech and language therapist working with children with complex communication disorders and/or learning difficulties. He also provides specialist input to the Salisbury NHS Speech and Language Therapy Department for children and adults who stammer. He qualified with a Master's Degree from the University of Sheffield where he was awarded the MMedSci prize for best overall degree performance. Since then Chris has worked with children in clinics, mainstream schools, nurseries and special schools for children with physical and learning difficulties. He has worked with children with a wide range of communication difficulties including speech sound difficulties, language delay and disorder, stammering/stuttering, and communication difficulties associated with learning difficulties.
Chris has provided a range of training and workshops for parents and teachers. He is trained and experienced in a number of interventions including the Lidcombe Programme for children who stammer, Solution Focused Therapy, Swindon Fluency Groups, Narrative therapy, interventions for working with adults who stammer, and the Derbyshire Language Scheme.
